Malmo Kitchen Cabinet Handle: Retro 1940s Swedish Design

Introduction to the Cabinet Handle Collection

The prototype of the cabinet handle collection is inspired by Friluftstaden in Malmö, Sweden. Named after flower buds, Friluftsstaden is a residential area renowned for its rich Functionalist aesthetics and philosophy. The creative mind behind this project is Eric Sigfrid Persson. He is a designer and builder from Malmö. People lovingly call him the "King of Funk."

Friluftstaden was built from 1942 to 1948. It is known as one of Sweden's most creative and attractive townhouse projects. Its design boasts several practical features, including:

  • Direct garbage disposal from the kitchen counter
  • Kitchen cabinets situated between the kitchen and dining room, accessible from both sides
  • Built-in shoe racks that enhance functionality

These thoughtful design elements contribute to the overall practicality and appeal of the residential area.
